✦ How to read the Cross
The order: read the cross first (I–VI), then the staff on the right
(VII–X), bottom to top. The cross is the situation; the staff is the commentary.
I · The Situation — the heart of the matter. Where you actually are,
not where you say you are.
II · What Crosses You — the force working with or against card I.
Read the two together as one sentence.
III · The Root — what is driving this from underneath. The part you
do not say out loud.
IV · The Recent Past — what is on its way out. Stop steering by it.
V · The Crown — the best available outcome; what you are consciously
reaching for.
VI · The Near Future — the next beat. Days and weeks, not destiny.
VII · The Self — how you are showing up in this story.
VIII · The House — your environment: the people, the room,
the group chat.
IX · Hopes & Fears — hope and fear are usually the same card.
That is the point of this position.
X · The Outcome — where this lands if nothing changes. If you do not
like it, change something — then ask again later.
Pairs matter more than singles: I + II is the engine, III versus IX is the secret
conversation you are having with yourself, and the distance between V and X is exactly the work
left to do. A reversed card is the same energy blocked or turned inward — not doom.
